What is Axie Infinity?

Axie Infinity is a Pokémon-inspired universe where anyone can earn tokens through skilled gameplay and contributions to the ecosystem. Players can battle, collect, raise, and build a land-based kingdom for their pets.

The key difference between Axie and a traditional game is that Blockchain economic design is used to reward its players for their contributions to the ecosystem. This new model of gaming has been dubbed "play to earn".

Playing a game to earn money? Yes, sounds almost too good to be true, because it is.

To start playing, a player must first acquire 3 Axies off the Axie Marketplace, which could range from 500–700 USD per Axie at the time of writing (July 2021). Bringing the total starting cost upwards of 1500 USD (~6,400 MYR).
